What got you coming to the 505 and what do you like about it?
Amanda got me coming, I came to see her preach, and then I interned for Ppc and became highly involved. After my internship ended, I couldn’t tear myself away. Ppc has become my church, and the 505 my community.
I love that every aspect of the 505 service is geared intentionally towards us becoming discipled in our faith and sent out into the world. We experience our faith in Jesus alongside one another, supporting one another in our triumphs and failures, and witnessing to our hopes and our fears.
Lots of people your age don’t go to church? Why do you think that is and how do you think we can best reach this generation?
I think that younger people are more and more identifying as “spiritual” rather than religious. The church has a history of being messy, difficult, and unfortunately all too human. There is less time, more distractions, and the church is slow to evolve. Communities like the 505 are reaching out to young people in a way that meets them where they are, offering support, education, and opportunities for service. The 505 gives me hope for the generations to come.
